PSA Contest
Polk County Farm Bureau is hosting a NEW digital media contest for students 16 to 25 years of age. Road safety among young drivers and vehicle road safety around large agricultural equipment is so important for everyone on the road. In this new contest, students will create a short video highlighting proper road safety practices, and how to pass and/or turn around large ag equipment sharing the road. Official Contest Rules
Criteria + Objectives
The 2024 contest theme is Safe Driving During Harvest. The video PSA should target teen drivers and express this theme. Videos may include other people, but participants must have permission from all individuals who appear in, or are mentioned in the video. Individuals appearing in the video must provide permission to use their name, voice and/or image, and they must be willing to grant the rights set forth in these Official Rules.
Video PSA’s must:

Be less than three minutes and include at least two of the following: general driving safety, distracted driving, passing or coming up behind large equipment, handling uncontrolled intersections, speeding, and navigating turning equipment or equipment near bridges.

The video footage provided below may be used by all participants but is not a requirement.

If the video includes music, then the music must be provided by a copyright/royalty free library or the music must be original music created and owned by participants. Copyright/royalty free music can be found here:
Video submission guidelines:

Video submission prohibitions:

Videos may not:
-
show participants or anyone else driving in unsafe conditions;
-
show the driver doing anything but driving (if filming while in motion);
-
contain material that violates or infringes another’s rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or contain material that constitutes copyright infringement;
-
disparage the Polk County Farm Bureau or any of the other contest parties affiliated with the promotion and administration of this contest;
-
feature brand name or trademarks;
-
contain artwork not created by participants;
-
contain music, other than copyright/royalty free music;
-
contain content that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, hateful, tortious, or defamatory;
-
contain material that is unlawful, in violation or contrary to the laws or regulations of the state of Iowa or the United States of America.

Eligibility
The Road Safety PSA Contest is open to all Polk County Farm Bureau members between the age of 16 to 25. If the entrant is under 18 years of age at the time of entry, the entrant must obtain parental consent to be eligible to enter the contest. Parental consent occurs when the parent or legal guardian of a minor entrant under 18 years of age grants permission for the entrant to participate and agrees on behalf of himself/herself and the minor entrant to these Official Rules. If requested, the entrant and/or parent or legal guardian must be able to provide such permissions or proof in a form acceptable to the contest parties.
Participants may enter individually or as part of a team. If entering as part of a team, the team must designate one person as the group’s designated leader for purposes of the contest. Each member of a team must meet all of the Eligibility Criteria for the team to be eligible to enter the contest. The Polk County Farm Bureau and its affiliates shall hereinafter be referred to as the “contest parties.”
No purchase is necessary to enter. All entries submitted become the property of the contest parties and will not be returned. By participating, you are granting the contest parties a perpetual, royalty-free license (but without obligation) to use your submission online, on social media, and any other media without limitation. Entries must contain all information requested and comply with all content submission requirements set forth herein to be valid.
Contest Period
The contest begins November 15th, 2024, and ends January 15th, 2025 (hereinafter, the "contest period").
Judging Criteria
All eligible entries received will be judged by a committee appointed by Polk County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. The second portion of judging will be a people's choice contests conducted on social media platforms. All with an active account on those platforms can vote for their favorite contest submission.
Winner Notification + Verification
The winning entry will be notified via phone or email. In the event the winner(s) do not respond to the notification or do not accept the prize within five (5) days of notification, the prize will be deemed forfeited and an alternative winner will be selected.

3rd Place: $100
Amount listed will be sent to the individual who submits the video. If working on a team, the prize will be given to the submitting individual. It will be the responsibility of the team to disperse winnings as they see fit.

Grant of Rights + Publicity
By submitting a video in this contest, all participants grant to contest parties an exclusive worldwide, perpetual, unlimited, irrevocable, royalty-free right and license (the “License”) to use, edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, publicly display, publish, publicly perform, transcode, make derivative works from, or otherwise make any use of their video (and if a winner, the related raw unused video footage) in any media and content whether now existing or later invented without any restrictions, right of approval or advance notification to the participants of any kind, for commercial or non-commercial purposes, including without limitation, in future trade, publicity and/or advertising for such Contest Parties products and/or services, unless prohibited by law. The winning participants further grant to Contest Parties a License to use the winner’s individual name (first and/or last), hometown, photo, image, voice, and likeness, in connection with the contest and/or video in any manner and in any media and content whether now existing or later invented without any restrictions, right of approval or advance notification to the participants of any kind, for commercial or non-commercial purposes, including without limitation, in future trade, publicity and/ or advertising for such contest parties products and/or services, unless prohibited by law.
Participants further agree:

That contest parties may exercise any and all rights hereunder without attribution, notification, or compensation to participants;

That contest parties shall have the right to freely assign their rights hereunder, in whole or in part, to any other person or entity, without notification or approval by participant;

That contest parties shall have no obligation (express or implied) to use the video entry in any manner and participants shall not be entitled to any damages or other relief by reason of contest parties use or non-use of participants video submission;

To be bound by these Official Rules;

That participants may be contact by telephone, mail, or email regarding this contest.
Representation + Warranties + Indemnification
Participants represent and warrant that:

The video is participant(s)’ original work;

The video does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, right of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity;

Participants have obtained written permission from each person whose name, likeness, voice, or other intellectual property is used in the video; and
-
The publication of the video (or related video footage) by contest parties will not infringe the rights of any third party. Participants will indemnify and hold harmless, the contest parties from any third-party claims to the contrary and any third-party claims arising out of or related to participants’ video or participation in the contest.
Limitation of Liability + Release
BY ENTERING THIS CONTEST, EACH PARTICIPANT AGREES TO RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS THE CONTEST PARTIES, THEIR RESPECTIVE AFFILIATES, OWNERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS (COLLECTIVELY, THE “RELEASED PARTIES”) FROM AND AGAINST ANY LIABILITY, CLAIM, OR CAUSE OF ACTION (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES), INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, OR DAMAGE TO OR LOSS OF PROPERTY, WHETHER CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE OR NOT, ARISING OUT OF PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST OR RECEIPT OR USE OR MISUSE OF ANY PORTION OF THE PRIZE, ENTRY OR PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST OR IN ANY CONTEST OR PRIZE RELATED ACTIVITY, OR ANY ACCESS TO OR USE OF THE CONTEST WEBPAGE, OR ANY CLAIMS BASED ON PUBLICITY RIGHTS, DEFAMATION, OR INVASION OF PRIVACY.
